Our Directors

Justin Indovina, Director of Choirs

Education: MM '05 (Choral Music Education and Conducting) University of Maryland ; BS '00 (Music Education) Duquesne University

Mr. Indovina directs all choral and drama activities at Quince Orchard including three choirs, drama classes, and all of the after-school theatre productions. Prior to coming to the school, he was a teaching assistant at the University of Maryland, teaching music for Elementary Education Majors and Freshmen Music Education Majors. Mr. Indovina has taught both choral and instrumental music at the middle school and high school levels in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Mr. Indovina still performs in the area by singing and playing piano for various church and community theater organizations. Most recently, Mr. Indovina was a recipient of the National Wolf Trap Scholarship for excellence in Performing Arts Education. He is a current member of Music Educators National Conference, Maryland Music Educators Association, and the American Choral Directors Association.

Brigitte Kirchhoff, Director of Orchestras

Brigitte Kirchhoff is a class of 1999 Quince Orchard High School Almuna. After graduating from QOHS she attended the University of Maryland at College Park on the Creative and Performing Arts scholarship. In her senior year of high school Ms. Lynch also received the Leon Marytsz Memorial Scholarship, through PVYO, to study music education in college. Ms. Lynch studied string bass privately with the National Symphony Orchestra’s own Curtis Burris, and graduated in May of 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Before returning to QOHS Ms. Lynch taught at Roberto Clemente Middle School, for two years, and was a conductor for the Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra Prepartatory Orchestra for four years.

Phillip Proctor, Director of Bands

Education: MM '04 (Instrumental Conducting & Pedagogy) East Carolina University ; BM'99 (Music Education) East Carolina University .

As Director of Bands, Mr. Proctor oversees the athletic bands, three concert/jazz ensembles and teaches AP Music Theory at Quince Orchard. Prior to coming to QO in 2004, Mr. Proctor was a graduate teaching assistant at ECU School of Music where he was Director of the ECU Basketball Pep Band and Conductor of the Concert Band. While at ECU he also taught undergraduate trumpet lessons and music history courses. Mr. Proctor has taught all age levels of students from elementary to college, including a successful tenure at Wicomico Middle School in Salisbury , MD. During his tenure at Quince Orchard, Mr.Proctor has served as the Faculty Elected Representative (2005-2008) and conducted the 2008 MCPS Junior All-County Honors Band. Mr. Proctor remains an active member of Music Educators National Conference, Maryland Music Educators Association, Phi Mu Alph Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc., and the College Band Directors National Association.
